Tamaca<\/strong> is the fruit of a special palm that grows throughout Juan y Medio, a village of Riohacha-La Guajira. Similar to coconut, the tamacas grow crowded or grouped, they are of medium size and round. The internal fruit is much smaller than its bark appears, ,and is the one used in different culinary preparations.<\/p>\n

In La Guajira this fruit is known as corozo. Which generates a lot of confusion, since, in the rest of the Colombian Caribbean Coast, the corozo is what in our department we know as Jovita de lata. If you want to explore the differences between the size and the corozito click here:<\/p>\n

The corozo is a flagship fruit of the village of Juan y Medio and the Afro-descendant Guajira cuisine. At the end of the year, in Juan y Medio they celebrate the festival of “Chicharro de Corozo”, where you can taste the different typical dishes, preparations and sweets made with this fruit, in particular the Chicharro, tradition of our department.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
