The Iguaraya is the fruit of the cactus, It has a dark red color and tastes like something you’ve never tried before. Iguarayas grow in the middle of the desert or arid areas. In its natural state, the fruit is covered with thorns that fall when it ripens and is collected by the Wayuu, one of the native communities of La Guajira.<\/span><\/p>\n

It is categorized as a type of “pitaya” because it comes from the species of Cactus Stenocereus<\/em>. In the same way, it keeps a relationship with the Dragon Fruit<\/em>. Since both come from types of cactus that grow in the desert. <\/span><\/p>\n

Iguaraya has some medical properties that contribute to people\u2019s health. It is applied directly to wounds and burns. it is also heated and applied directly to extract spines. Also, it can be used in infusions as an antispasmodic in case of colitis and stomach pain. <\/span><\/p>\n

Likewise, the infusion of its flower in oil is taken to relieve inflammation in the bronchi. It should be noted that it is of great importance for the Wayuu. Being a desert fruit that serves to feed the community. <\/span><\/p>\n
